What is the difference between ATO and RTF?

  • Categories Location

ATO stands for Approved Training Organisation whilst RTF stands for Registered Training Facility. If you are training to qualify for a pilot’s licence, you will need to complete your pilot training at an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) or Registered Training Facility (RTF).

An ATO is an organisation which provides training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry-agreed training standard.

As of April 2019, a RTF must be registered as either a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) or an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) to be able to offer future pilots EASA licences.
