Our ATPL Theoretical Knowledge study is designed to equip you with a solid foundation to achieve excellent exam results and ultimately, enable you to progress from ground school training to basic, intermediate and advanced flight training.

Course overview
Your ATPL Theoretical Knowledge training can be completed as a full-time course, with approximately 28 weeks of classroom and computer-based training, where you will receive industry-leading tuition from highly skilled and respected instructors, alongside guided computer-based study.
The course is broken down into manageable subject areas, and includes the regulatory exams required for the issue of a licence.

ATPL Theoretical Knowledge (Classroom Based)
Entry criteria
To be accepted on to our ATPL Theoretical Knowledge course:
Age and height |
Be at least 17 to submit an application and at least 18 to commence training.
Minimum height 5 ft. 2 in. (157 cm), maximum height 6 ft. 3 in. (191 cm). Applicants who fall outside of this may still apply but will need an ergonomic assessment in our training aircraft and simulators. |
Language |
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Non-native English speakers must achieve level 5.5 individual and overall in IELTS or equivalent ICAO level 4 prior to start of training.

Education |
Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) in different subjects at grade C/4 or above, which must include Mathematics, Science and English Language.
OR
Be able to demonstrate that you have successfully completed secondary or high school education (or equivalent). |
Medical |
Be able to obtain:
UKCAA Class 1 Medical if you are training for a UKCAA ATPL licence.
OR
EASA Class 1 Medical if you are training for an EASA ATPL licence. |
Visas |
Unrestricted right to live, study and work in the UK (e.g. UK national, EU national with settled or pre-settled status, etc).
OR
Meet the United Kingdom Visa & Immigration Service (UKVI) requirements to qualify for a Visitor (study for six months or less) or Student visa (study for more than six months). |
Background checks |
Produce a criminal record check (CRC) basic disclosure certificate before training can commence. |
