We have been selected by British Airways to deliver pilots through their new Speedbird Self-Sponsored Pathway! 

Successful pilots will complete our world-class Integrated ATPL training and, upon successful completion of training, secure a full time job as a First Officer flying for British Airways or BA EuroFlyer on the Airbus A320.

BA Speedbird Self-Sponsored Pathway Criteria

To enrol on our this course you will need to meet the following entry criteria:

Age and height

  • 17+ to submit an application. 18+ to commence ATPL training
  • Height between 5 ft. 2 in. (157 cm) and 6 ft. 3 in. (191 cm). Applicants outside of this may still apply but will need an ergonomic assessment


  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Non-native English speakers must achieve level 5.5 individual and overall in IELTS or equivalent ICAO level 4 prior to start of ATPL training


  • A minimum of 6 GCSEs (or international high school equivalent) at grade C/5 or above, including Mathematics, Science and English Language


  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the UK (e.g. UK national, EU national with settled or pre-settled status)
  • If required: Meet the United Kingdom Visa & Immigration Service requirements to qualify for a Visitor (study for six months or less) or Student visa (study for more than six months)
  • If required, obtain / be able to obtain M-1 Student Visa for your flight training in the U.S.A.

What is an ATPL licence?

Short for Airline Transport Pilot Licence, an ATPL licence is the highest level of airline pilot certification. It is required in order to command or pilot a flight with nine or more passenger seats.

What is a frozen ATPL?

Cadets who have passed all 13 ATPL Theoretical exams but have not yet met his or her flying requirements hold a frozen ATPL.

What is an unfrozen ATPL?

A frozen ATPL becomes unfrozen when a cadet has completed a total of 1500 flying hours, including 500 hours of multi-crew environment.
