Hours Building Course

Are you a newly qualified pilot with a PPL (Private Pilot Licence) and considering being an airline pilot? If you’re thinking about training towards your CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence), then we have a programme that could help fast track you to the 150 flight hours needed to start the next phase of training.

L3Harris is pleased to announce the launch of its Hours Building programme, based out of our Airline Academies in the UK and Portugal. This programme has been designed for aspiring pilots with ambitions to become commercial aviators. Book now for a reduced price of £16,000.

  • Hold a Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

Hours Building course costs

Cost: £16,000 (reduced from £20,000)

Payment schedule:

  • Initial payment: £4,000 (payment must be received before commencing training)
  • 2 x instalments: £6,000 (second instalment must be received by training week 5)
  • Payment schedule will be confirmed at time of booking

What’s included in the price?

  • Airfield fees at Ponte de Sor or UK training facilities
  • Use of L3Harris single-engine piston aircraft and fuel
  • Check flight with a qualified flight instructor
  • Access to Academy facilities, including canteen and study areas

Additional costs to consider:

  • Accommodation
  • Air travel to Portugal
  • Travel to and from the Academy
  • Insurances
  • Personal living expenses
  • Class 2 Medical
  • Flight training equipment such as a headset

Visa requirements - Studying in Europe:

Unrestricted right to live, study and work in the European Economic Area (EEA)/Switzerland (e.g. EEA/Swiss national, UK national with EU settled or pre-settled status, etc).

OR

Meet the European Union requirements to qualify for an EU Student or Study visa.

Unrestricted right to live, study and work in the UK (e.g. UK national, EU national with settled or pre-settled status, etc).

OR

Meet the United Kingdom Visa & Immigration Service (UKVI) requirements to qualify for a Visitor (study for six months or less) or Student visa (study for more than six months).

What is the Ponte de Sor, Portugal Airline Academy like?

Our European Airline Academy in Ponte de Sor encompasses all aspects of flight training, from foundation flying in single-engine aircraft to more advanced training in multi-engine aircraft.

This modern campus is one of the largest in Europe and has outstanding facilities and communal areas for cadets to relax and socialise when not working or flying. With over 300 sunny days a year Ponte de Sor is the ideal location for flying.

  • Over 260.000 square feet training centre
  • 1,800 metre runway and dedicated Instrument Landing System (ILS)
  • 20 plus training aircraft including Piper Archer and Cessna 172

You will complete your Hours Building course at our flight school in Bournemouth which provides Cadets with access to an operations room, technical library as well as training aircraft.
