Icelandair is working with L3Harris Airline Academy to train and develop aspiring pilots to join the airline as First Officers.

This programme is currently closed but there is an opportunity to fly for leading global airlines via our Integrated ATPL programme.

Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme

Application and selection

Entry criteria

To apply for this airline Cadet Pilot Programme, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18-30 years of age to commence training
  • Be fluent in Icelandic (verbal and written)
  • Be fluent in English (verbal and written)*
  • Produce a criminal record check (CRC) / Police Clearance Certificate before training can commence
  • Be available to start working in 2020

*For non-native English speakers, you will be required to present a certificate prior to training commencement demonstrating you have achieved TOFEL or an equivalent of at a score of 71 or higher. This must be the Academic test, not General Training.

Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme

Theoretical Knowledge training; classroom and computer-based.

 

Foundation flight training; single-engine piston aircraft.

 

Commercial and instrument flight training.

 

Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT).

 

Single- and multi-engine aircraft and simulator.

Intermediate training

Multi-pilot flight training.

 

Our world-renowned Airline Qualification Course (AQC) incorporating Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) certificate, advanced handling skills and an Initial Crew Resource Management (CRM) course.

3 weeks

Advanced training

Advanced training begins once you have secured your employment with Icelandair.

 

Aircraft type-specific training.

 

Simulator and aircraft training with the airline.

 

Upon joining Icelandair, you will continue with further 'Line' training (carrying passengers), which will conclude with a 'final line-check' by your airline Training Captain.

 

Line Orientated Experience (LOE) and Line Check with Icelandair. You will also complete safety, emergency and procedures training.

Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme

Cost and funding

The pilot funding required for the Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme comprises of the following:

  • £96,800 payable over 12 instalments
  • £255 Selection fee

Icelandair are offering to underwrite the total costs of the Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme for the Cadets who successfully enrol on this programme. Further to this, Icelandair will also pay for the total cost of Type Rating for Cadets who successfully complete the Icelandair Cadet Pilot Programme.
