How long does it take to become a Flight Instructor?

  • Categories Course, Career prospects

It takes approximately 12 months to become a Certified Flight Instructor and you must have logged at least 250 hours total time to get your certificate.

To begin your Certified Flight Instructor journey, you must have first completed your Commercial Pilot License - this can be done with our Accelerated Airline Pilot (AAPT) Course, which takes approximately 12 months to complete.

If you want to add Instrument Rating to your Certified Flight Instructor certification, the time for completion will depend on your existing qualifications.

The time it takes to become a flight instructor can also vary depending on whether you already have various licences or ratings. You can work your way up to a Certified Flight Instructor with our Individual Courses. To explore this option, or for more information on course outlines and requirements, please, contact us.
