How long does it take to become a Flight Instructor?

It takes approximately 12 months to obtain your Certified Flight Instructor rating (subject to scheduling). If you want to become a Certified Flight Instructor with Instrument Rating, the length of time it takes will depend on your existing qualifications:
- If you already have your Private Pilot License, you can complete the Instrument Rating to CFI-I Track which takes 577.8 hours (training and exam time)
- If you have your Single-Engine Instrument Rating, our Commercial Single Engine to CFI-I Track takes 372.9 hours (training and exam time)
- If you are wanting to become a CFI with Instrument Rating and also have your Commercial Single-Engine Certificate, our CFI to CFI-I Track takes 199.9 hours (training and exam time)
